One of the traditions of Chinese culture is that we consider baby turning one month old to be a huge milestone. Often the parents (or the grandparents) will hold a banquet inviting friends and relatives to celebrate. And the Mother definitely would like to celebrate too, as she is now officially allow to "go out". And YES during the first month the Mother is supposed to stay home (and there are other taboos too). The reason is to allow the Mother to recover physically (after a huge "operation"), and to not run around which is not good for the body. Of course that's the old believe but I would say even nowadays the Mother who may not 100% stay home but will still minimize the chances to go out of the house. And come to think about it, the first month for new parents (especially mother doing the breast feed) is the busiest time. The Mother may not even want to go out at all.
Still, what about 100 days?
So after 1 month, baby gain some weight, mother recovered and started to gain some strength. However, some people think that holding a "full month banquet" to share the joy within friends and family just after one month still a bit too early. Baby still needs to be fed often etc. So nowadays, more and more people push off the "full month banquet" to "100 day celebration banquet"
And that's what "happy 100 days" is all about. I was invited to the "100 day celebration" party from my friend and I'm making a card for this occasion.
I want to customize the card with the baby's name and I love these texts from PTI.
Hopefully you don't find the long post too boring and finally, here's the card:
