Pocket book

My coworker is leaving the company and a few of us started to write a few poems to bid him farewell. They are all in email but as my coworker left the email will be deactivated . So I decided to make him a small booklet to keep all those poem. And it also acts like a farewell card so others can sign.

But first, how to make a "book"? I don't know how to bind a book and even if I do, I don't have the materials on hand. So I was trying to use Scotch tape to connect two pages but that just look really ugly.

Then I came across some printing issue. Since my coworker was from China, we all wrote our poem in Simplified Chinese. There is a standard Simplified Chinese font built in within MS Words but the font selection is very limited. So I decided to search for some calligraphy style font (it's for poem!) but sometimes I just don't know if those sites are safe for download. So after a few Google searches I gave up. Instead I came across a site that can change the input text to different font and we can download it as image file. So I decided to give it a try. The result is not bad. Just that I have no control over the width of the whole string and I need to do lots of resizing when I worked with it in MS Word.

After printing all the pages and tape with Scotch tape I seriously found it too ugly to have Scotch tape to connect the pages. So I have to print everything again. This time, I try to punch a hole on the top left corner and use a hemp string to tie the whole thing up.

This is how it looks like:

The front cover is stamped with Heroarts Classic Fabric Design and Memento Summer Sky ink, then apply Tumble Glass distress ink to create the tone on tone effect. Then mount on the blue/purple paper.

Here's the first page:

Stamp: PTI Happy Trail, Penny Black Post Card
Ink: Memento Cocco Brown, Dessert Sand

I'd like to make the inside look better too but it's already 4am so I decided to just do simple stamping...I wish I have been able to spend more time on it.
